My understanding is that Simple Green was invented to solve exactly that problem. I haven't had a coffee maker in so long that I don't know if I ever tried it. I kinda hope it works, because the stuff doesn't seem to me much good for the other things I've tried it for.

Personally I'm skittish about trying Simple Green. They say it's not toxic, but it's definitely got noxious chemicals in it. Why bother with the unknown chemistry when boiling water does the job, I say.

The dish washer soap and hot water worked perfectly I did have to wipe and rince but it is clean clean clean Thank you

Thanks for a great tip! I was despairing of ever getting my stainless carafe back to new condition, but diswasher soap with boiling water did the trick. After letting it soak overnight, most of the crud just rinsed right out and a couple swishes with a bottle brush got the stubborn bits.

Hi ,

I like your post about the coffee pot.

Recently on TV I caught the last couple of seconds of a chef who said that to clean all sorts of yuck of stainless steel pans and pots all you need to do is fill the pot with water add (something I didnt hear what it was) and boil the water for 15 mins then rince out. and presto all clean.

does any one know what the something could be an or does it work

Thanks Dave

Thanks for the tip. It worked great! I own the exact same model coffee maker. I love it!
